About Spradling Drilling

In 1953, after spending more than 10 years drilling in Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, and the Permian Basin areas, L. R. "Babe" Spradling and his wife, Charlotte, move to Borger, TX, where Babe immediately set out to start his own company. With a $10,000 loan and his own welding skills, Spradling Drilling Company was founded in 1954. Over the next two years, Babe Spradling bought scrap iron and rig parts and pieced together his first rig himself. In 1956, Spradling Drilling Rig #1 was completed and Spradling Drilling completed their first well for Major Oil Company. Babe continued to work his rig while Charlotte was running the office and keeping a tight hand on the money.

Over the next 45 years, Babe and Charlotte expanded their company on a foundation of Quality, Reliability, and Safety. Spradling Drilling, officially Spradling, L.P., is the only drilling contractor to be home based out of Borger. Considered by many to be the premier drilling contractor in the Texas Panhandle, Spradling Drilling has the knowledge and experienced personnel to answer questions and handle any unforeseen problems. Spradling, Drilling currently operates 5 Rigs with a depth capacity to around 8,400 feet. Spradling Drilling is a significant contributor to the Borger, Hutchinson County, and Texas and Oklahoma Panhandle Economies and prides itself in their community involvement.

Experience
Spradling Drilling tries very hard to limit turnovers in key employment areas. Our Tool Pushers each have more than 20 years of experience with Spradling Drilling and more than 25 years in the Texas and Oklahoma Oil Fields. With our Tool Pushers and more than 50 other field employees, Spradling Drilling boast more than 200 years of combined experience. This experience allows Spradling Drilling to ensure a quality well bore and loggable hole whether that hole is 2,300 feet or 8,400 feet; straight or directional. Spradling Drilling provides all rig equipment, supervision, and rig personnel to get the job done right the first time!

Mobility
Mobility is the key. Speed and efficiency stem from years of cooperation and experience. We have 3 trailer mounted rigs with single piece derricks. The colorful terrain of the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles can cause problems and confusion for other contractors, while Spradling Drilling can move on and rig up on any and all locations -- no location is too difficult.

Twenty-four hour vehicle service, maintenance and repair, a function of the Spradling shops, helps insure unbroken workflow in the field and ready availability of transport and equipment. It is not unusual for Spradling Drilling to rig down, move, rig up, and spud on the next well within two to three days.

Reliability
We feel like we provide our customers with some of the most reliable service available in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles. In the event of mechanical or equipment failure, Spradling Drilling maintains a full set of back-up parts and equipment that can be on location with drilling resumed in a minimal amount of time. The Spradling Shops also employ capable Diesel Mechanics that allow Spradling Drilling to complete many repairs in house reducing the repair time required.

The customer enjoys the benefit of close and reliable information on day to day progress at the rig. Spradling Drilling's office, shops, rigs, and field personnel are interrelated by 24 hour cellular, telephone, and two-way radio service. Spradling Drilling is fully insured.
